About
me :
I was born in Duisburg in 1954. My family moved to Hamburg, when
my father was appointed concertmaster at the Hamburg Philharmonic
Orchestra.
Between
the age of nine and eighteen I learned to play the violin with
the intention of becoming a professional musician. The early enthusiasm
for working with wood and a visit to Mittenwald, South Germany,
changed my mind and I decided to become a luthier.
In 1973, my training in the vocational school for violin Mittenwald
began. After 3 1/2 years of intensive training and successful
finish with the final apprenticeship exam,
I
began to work with Helmut Müller in Leonberg. Due to his
very long experience in various world-renowned workshops, I learned
all the repair techniques of Hans Weisshaar and refined my skills
in new instrument building.
Working with the master violin maker Hans Schicker, I gained a
lot of experience in the assessment of antique instruments, performed
repairs of high quality instruments and learned to deal with the
customers.
The third work was at Serge Stam at Utrecht where I learned working
various methods of repairs and bow re-hairing.
In 1981 I completed the master exam in Stuttgart with the highest
marks.
In 1985 I opened my own workshop, with a retail store, in Hamburg.
There I worked for many professional musicians and also for many
members of the Hamburg Philharmonic Orchestra.
Through my playing the violin, I got the ability to satisfy the
very highest demands of professional musicians. It also helped
me to become a specialist in sonic improvements.
After a short working in Argentina as head of the workshop "I
Violini" in Buenos Aires I moved to Sweden to master the
intensive construction of new violins, violas and cellos. In 2010
I finally choose to live, and work, in Helsingborg, Sweden.
In 2013 I moved with my workshop to my home in Mörarp near
Helsingborg.
